Who we are
The STITCH Foundation is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to creating meaningful, sustainable change in underserved communities. Our mission is to Support Transformative Impact Through Community and Hope.
Born from lived experiences of loss, resilience, and global service, STITCH was founded with a deep recognition of the challenges faced by individuals and communities around the world, and a determination to respond with compassion and action. We exist to help others heal, grow, and thrive, one stitch at a time.
In proud partnership with the African Impact Foundation, we now support community-led initiatives across Africa that span education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, and conservation. Together, we amplify local voices, invest in long-term solutions, and build bridges between donors and the communities they serve.
We believe that small, intentional actions, when rooted in empathy and collaboration, can lead to powerful, lasting impact. Through advocacy, storytelling, and strategic support, STITCH empowers individuals and communities to overcome systemic challenges and shape brighter futures.
Our Founders Story
Hello, my name is Megan Galla, the founder of The STITCH Foundation. To understand why STITCH exists, you have to understand where it began, with one moment that changed everything. In July 2024, I traveled to Zambia to volunteer with the African Impact Foundation. I went hoping to do a little good. What I didn’t expect was to be cracked open. I witnessed communities navigating unimaginable challenges with grace, strength, and resilience. I saw the stark contrast between my world and theirs, and then, I lived it.
A sudden medical emergency left me in need of immediate surgery in a resource-limited setting. I was alone, terrified, and in excruciating pain. There were little pain meds. No proper wound care. No comfort. Just times that felt like survival. I still don’t know how I made it through, but I did. And that experience didn’t just shake me, it reshaped me. It stripped everything down to what truly matters and revealed a truth I could no longer hold at arm’s length: what was one terrifying day for me is a daily reality for many. I came to Zambia knowing the challenges were real, but living them made the gap impossible to ignore.
When I returned home, I carried more than scars; I carried a sense of responsibility. I couldn’t forget what I’d seen, or what I’d felt. In August 2025, I returned to Zambia, not just with donated supplies but with a broader vision. A vision to help expand African Impact Foundation’s reach and support the communities that had supported me. That’s how STITCH was born: out of pain, purpose, and a promise to turn personal transformation into collective impact.
How We Came About
STITCH was created in response to a truth that became impossible to ignore: access to dignity, care, and opportunity should never depend on where someone is born. What I experienced in one moment, many endure every day, and that disparity demands more than empathy. It calls for action.
This foundation is built on the belief that resilience deserves reinforcement, that the quiet strength shown by communities every day should be met with unwavering support. We recognize the privilege that comes with simply being born in a place like the United States, where access to care and opportunity is often a given. With that privilege comes responsibility. At STITCH, we choose to use what we have, our resources, our voices, our platforms, to stand beside those facing systemic barriers not of their making. We exist to help bridge the gap between what is and what could be: between the reality many endure and the dignity everyone deserves. Our work is guided by love, humility, and the conviction that transformation doesn’t come from grand gestures, but from consistent care, deep listening, and service that honors both the struggle and the strength of those we serve. Because real change doesn’t happen all at once, it’s sewn together, one stitch at a time.
